As a small business owner, I've always believed in the power of hard work, self-reliance, and dedication. These principles have shaped not only how I run my company, Wicked Good Lawn Care, but also how I view the broader world around me. They are values that are deeply ingrained in my work ethic and the success of my business. They’re also the same values that align with the conservative ideals I support in the political arena—principles that are more important than ever as we look toward the 2024 election and the future of our country.
Owning and operating a lawn care business requires an unwavering commitment to consistency, quality, and attention to detail. You can’t just show up and expect a lawn to flourish on its own—it takes time, effort, and a deep understanding of what makes grass grow strong and healthy. In many ways, that’s how I view the American dream. Our nation thrives when we nurture it with care, when we as individuals invest in our communities, and when we protect the freedoms that allow each of us to pursue our dreams, whether that’s starting a business, raising a family, or maintaining a beautiful lawn.
The Business of Hard Work
One of the core tenets of conservatism is the belief in hard work. In my business, nothing comes easy. Every lawn we mow, every yard we treat, requires a team that is willing to put in the sweat equity. There’s no shortcut to creating a great lawn, just as there’s no shortcut to success in life. You work hard, you stay dedicated, and you see the fruits of that labor in time. This is a value I hold close both in my personal life and in my business, and it’s a value that Republicans have long championed.
As a Republican, I believe that government should encourage hard work by rewarding effort, not punishing it through excessive regulation or taxation. I see how small businesses, the backbone of our economy, can thrive when they’re given room to grow. Less red tape means more opportunity to expand, hire more employees, and give back to the community. Wicked Good Lawn Care has benefited from pro-business policies that have allowed me to focus on what matters most—delivering the best possible service to my clients. And in my opinion, supported by documented facts, many of these policies have been under attack for the last 3.5 years under the current administration.
Freedom of Choice, Freedom to Succeed
When you run a small business, freedom is everything. The freedom to make decisions about your operations, the freedom to hire who you want, and the freedom to chart your own course. I’ve always believed that individual choice should be at the center of both business and life. Whether it’s how you manage your yard or how you choose to live your life, the less government intrusion, the better.
In the lawn care business, I’ve seen firsthand how homeowners take pride in their property. They want their lawns to reflect their personal tastes and style, and it’s my job to help them achieve that vision. Imagine if the government stepped in and started regulating how often we could mow or what types of fertilizer we could use( they do this now actually in part). It might sound extreme, but the truth is, excessive regulation stifles the creativity and hard work that drives small businesses like mine. It takes away the freedom that allows people to pursue their own path to success.
This belief in freedom is one of the reasons I support Republican policies that prioritize individual liberties and limit government overreach. Just like every homeowner should have the freedom to decide what’s best for their lawn, every business owner should have the freedom to run their company in a way that makes the most sense for them, without being bogged down by unnecessary rules and restrictions.
Conservatism and Environmental Responsibility
Being a Republican doesn’t mean I don’t care about the environment. Quite the opposite, in fact. I believe that we can be both good stewards of the land and responsible business owners. At Wicked Good Lawn Care, we use eco-friendly products and sustainable practices because I want to ensure that the lawns we care for today will still be here for future generations to enjoy.
But here’s the thing—environmental responsibility doesn’t have to come from heavy-handed government mandates. It can, and should, come from personal and business-driven initiatives. Small businesses are often more nimble and innovative than their larger counterparts. We can adapt quickly to new technologies and methods that benefit both our customers and the environment, without the need for burdensome regulations.
In my view, conservatism is about finding that balance—protecting the environment while still promoting economic growth and personal freedom. We don’t need the government telling us how to run our businesses or care for our lawns. We just need the freedom to make smart, responsible choices that benefit everyone.
Supporting Local Communities and American Jobs
One of the things I love most about owning Wicked Good Lawn Care is the opportunity to give back to my community. Whether it’s sponsoring a local youth sports team or hiring locally, I know that small businesses like mine play a vital role in keeping our neighborhoods strong. And that’s something worth protecting.
Republican values emphasize the importance of supporting local economies, creating American jobs, and keeping our communities safe and prosperous. When we vote for policies that reduce the tax burden on small businesses and limit unnecessary regulation, we’re voting for a stronger economy and more opportunities for businesses like mine to thrive.
Every time we mow a lawn or install new landscaping, we’re contributing to the local economy, creating jobs, and supporting families. This is why I’m passionate about voting for leaders who understand the importance of small businesses and who will fight to protect them from the crushing weight of taxes and regulations that could put companies like Wicked Good Lawn Care out of business.
Looking Ahead to 2024
As we approach the 2024 election, I’m more convinced than ever that conservative policies are the key to a stronger, more prosperous America. My business, and my community have all benefited from the principles of hard work, individual freedom, and personal responsibility that Republicans stand for. And I believe that by continuing to support these values, we can build a future where both small businesses and the American dream continue to thrive.
Wicked Good Lawn Care isn’t just about mowing lawns; it’s about building something bigger. It’s about supporting the people in my community, protecting the freedoms that allow us to pursue our dreams, and doing it all with the same level of care and attention that goes into every lawn we manage. That’s the Republican way, and it’s a philosophy that will continue to guide me in both my business and my life.
